With summer in full swing so is traffic congestion on French roads. August has the only national Black (very heavy) traffic days of the year - Saturday August 1st. There are also two Red (heavy) traffic and 11 Orange (moderate) traffic days. As is often the case the best days to travel by car are during the week Monday to Thursday.
